John
Nickell is a lifelong resident of Jessamine County who works
as a cattle and tobacco farmer and contractor. He has served
as Magistrate since 1990, representing the Fifth District
of the county. John is very active in Jessamine County -- a member of the Camp Nelson Foundation, Vice President
of the Jessamine County Beef Cattle Association, Chairman of Mt. Beulah United Methodist Church, and Treasurer
for the Jessamine County Methodist Men.
John
is a retired employee of the Reynolds Tobacco Company, an NRA member, a member of the Masonic Lodge and of the Scottish Rite. As magistrate, he currently assists in overseeing matters before the Court that
involve the Jessamine County Detention Center and Health Department, and serves on the SAVE Center Board.
John was honored by the Kentucky Magistrates and Commissioners Association as 2008 Magistrate of the Year.
He is the widower of Ruth Canter Nickell. They have three daughters,
June Brooks, Donna Miller, and Edith Miller, as well as five
grandchildren, Steven Miller, Amy Giles, John Thomas Miller,
Ben Brooks, Alexandra Miller, and Maddie Giles. John can be contacted by
